Jami's Sunday Sanctuary - Staying Soft in a Hard World

Beautiful Soul ~

I’m writing to you this morning from a tender place.

I’ve been sick again these past few weeks, and while I don’t want to linger there, it’s a reminder that grief lives in the body. My immune system has never been quite the same since losing my son, Judson. Some days I feel strong and grounded. Other days, my body asks me to slow way down and listen.

And then there’s the world.

The news out of Minneapolis—and so many places before it—has stirred that familiar ache. The kind that sits heavy in the chest. The kind that reminds us how fragile and precious life is. Even when we try to look away, our nervous systems feel it. Our hearts feel it.

I sense that many of you are carrying your own version of this weight—grief layered upon grief, worry stacked on top of exhaustion, a quiet wondering of how do we keep going like this?

I don’t have answers. What I do have is a deep belief in staying connected—to our breath, to our bodies, and to one another. In moments like these, simply showing up with softness is an act of courage. Choosing kindness is not weakness; it’s strength.

Yoga has taught me that we don’t heal by hardening. We heal by staying present. By feeling our feet on the ground. By placing a hand on the heart and remembering we are still here. Still breathing. Still capable of love.

If today feels heavy, please be gentle with yourself. Move slowly. Rest when you can. Reach out if you need to. And know this: you are not alone in this tender, complicated moment we are living through.

We stay human by staying connected.
We stay hopeful by staying together.

With love, so much love, and hugs too,
Jami
