My dear one,

“Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?”
— Mary Oliver

There is something about that word.

Precious.

Not perfect.
Not predictable.
Not promised.

Precious.

Life turns quickly sometimes.
We know this.
We feel this.

And yet… it is also unspeakably beautiful.

This breath.
This body.
This ordinary morning light coming through the window.

We do not get endless days.
We get today.

And yoga, in its quiet and ancient way, teaches us how to be here for it.

The sages who gave us the teachings of the Yoga Sutras remind us that practice is about steady effort and a soft heart. The wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita speaks of showing up fully to our lives, even when they feel uncertain. Over and over again, the ancient texts whisper the same truth:

Be present.
Be awake.
Do not waste this life.

Yoga was never just about poses. It was about remembering what matters. About aligning our thoughts, our actions, and our hearts. About living in a way that is kind to the whole — because what is not good for the hive is not good for the bee.

Mary Oliver’s question is not meant to pressure us.

It is meant to wake us gently.

What will you do with this one life?

Maybe the answer is simple.

Love well.
Forgive quickly.
Move your body with gratitude.
Tell the people you love that you love them.
Show up.

Not someday.

Today.

This practice — this community — is one small way we choose to honor the preciousness of being alive.

I am so grateful to walk this wild and beautiful path with you.

With love,
Jami
